MoveStrong Movement Commons™
Outdoor Spaces Designed for Movement, Fitness & Connection
Move. Connect. grow.
MoveStrong Movement Commons™ is a new addition to the MoveStrong outdoor product range, bringing together fitness, recreation and movement into one customized outdoor environment.
Movement Commons is designed for organizations looking to create more than a traditional outdoor gym. Instead of arranging rows of equipment around a workout area, Movement Commons takes a broader approach to outdoor space design, combining multiple activity zones and movement experiences within one cohesive environment.
The result is an outdoor destination where people can train, climb, balance, traverse, hang, move, challenge themselves, gather and connect.
what is movement commons?
Movement Commons combines fitness and recreation in a thoughtfully designed outdoor environment created for the people who will use it. Each space is shaped around the needs, interests and abilities of its community, bringing together a diverse range of movement experiences in one destination.
Through MoveStrong Design & Layout Services, Movement Commons environments can combine functional fitness and strength training with calisthenics, bodyweight training, climbing, traversing, obstacles, balance challenges, hanging and suspension elements. Training stairs, ramps, locomotion features and open turf areas expand the possibilities for movement, while youth and beginner-friendly elements make the space welcoming to a broad range of users.
The Movement Commons Collection
The Movement Commons Collection brings together a diverse range of fitness and recreational elements that can be combined to create a customized outdoor environment. From balance, climbing and bodyweight movement to swinging, recreation and social spaces, each element is thoughtfully selected and arranged to reflect the people, activities and community the space is designed to serve.
bouldering panels
Bouldering Panels introduce climbing as part of the Movement Commons experience. They encourage users to navigate different holds and routes while incorporating strength, coordination and problem-solving into an outdoor setting.
slackline anchor post
The Slackline Anchor Post creates a dedicated point for slackline activities, bringing balance, coordination and focus into the outdoor environment. It adds another dynamic movement experience while giving users an opportunity to challenge themselves in a different way.
staggered balance steps
Staggered Balance Steps introduce balance and coordination into the Movement Commons experience. Their varied positioning encourages users to navigate the space with control while adding a simple but engaging movement challenge for a range of ages and abilities.
ping pong
Outdoor Ping Pong brings recreation and social interaction into the Movement Commons. It provides an opportunity for friendly competition and casual play, giving users another reason to gather and spend time in the space.
t-Swing
T-Swings add a familiar recreational element to the Movement Commons while encouraging movement and play. Their inclusion helps create a space that feels welcoming to a broad range of users and adds another way to interact with the environment.
spider net
The Spider Net adds a relaxed, social element to the Movement Commons. Designed as a place to hang out, unwind and connect, it gives users another way to enjoy the space beyond structured fitness and training.
Hammock Set
Hammock Stands create a place to slow down and enjoy the space between activities. They complement the active elements of the Movement Commons by providing an area for relaxation, gathering and spending time outdoors.
Movement Commons changes the way an outdoor fitness space can be approached. Instead of beginning with a list of equipment and finding a place to put it, the focus is on creating an environment with a variety of ways to move. One area might be dedicated to strength and functional fitness, while another encourages climbing, traversing or obstacle challenges. Balance elements, suspension features, stairs, ramps and open movement areas can create natural transitions between activities and encourage users to explore the space in different ways. Because every Movement Commons environment can be customized, the final design can reflect the goals, users and available space of each project.
Who Is Movement Commons For?
Movement Commons is ideal for organizations and communities looking to create a dynamic outdoor destination that serves more than one type of user. It can be suited to environments where fitness, recreation, movement and community are all part of the vision.
The concept is particularly well suited to projects that want to offer a variety of experiences rather than a single-purpose fitness area. Communities, recreational environments, educational settings, organizations and other facilities can use Movement Commons to create spaces where users with different interests and ability levels can find their own way to move and engage.
Whether someone is focused on strength training, wants to climb and traverse, enjoys obstacle challenges, prefers open movement areas or simply wants a place to be active with others, Movement Commons is designed to bring those possibilities together.
One Space. More Ways to Move.
The strength of Movement Commons is in the combination. By bringing together MoveStrong's outdoor fitness and movement elements within a customized layout, one space can support a wide variety of activities and experiences.
It is a place to train. A place to play. A place to challenge yourself. A place to gather.
And most importantly, it is a space designed around movement.
